Choosing colors that still scan
Scanners need contrast between the code and its background. Keep the code color noticeably darker than the background (a light background with a dark code is the safest, most universally readable combination). If you invert it — light code on a dark background — most modern phones still read it fine, but older scanners can struggle, so test before printing anything at scale.
PNG vs. SVG
PNG is a fixed-resolution image, ideal for screens, emails, and documents. SVG is vector-based and scales to any size without losing sharpness, which makes it the better choice for posters, signage, or anything printed large.
